Here is my story. I entered the Stevens Training program in November.

During schooling I was asked to sign a contract. I really wanted time to think about it but was not given that time. Shirley Ponce in the class discussed the contract for one year employment then went over different payment options. At the end she stated that if it didnt work out and you didnt seek employment in the industry you would not be pursued for this but if you did she would hunt you down.

(her exact words) I signed based on this statement. Wnet through school, graduated and went out with trainer for 38 days, then went with finish trainer. Accomplished all goals for miles and days without any issues with compliance, safety, or any other division. During finish training became aware wife was having an affair.

I stayed on the truck until all requirements were met then contacted my "counselor" David Ault and explained to him what was going on, that all qualifications were met, and requested home time. I was informed that I could get off the truck and "make my own way home" (again his exact words) Went back to yard for grad class and continuesly attempted to get home time. Thanks to William Mallet (the only person I dealt with that i would consider honest) as he finally got me some home time. When I went back was assigned truck and put on pre Alliance/grad fleet.

Completed 54 days and 17000 miles and had every intention of signing a lease. Wife contacted me and stated she wished for me to come home and repair our marriage. As I was on yard that time I contacted my DM and Career Counselor and they had me fill out paperwork for release from employment. I was not entirely happy with my time at Stevens but felt things are what they are at a major company.

A few dyas ago I was contacted by a "gentleman" representing Stevens wishing to "arbitrate" my loan repayment. I was willing to discuss repayment options with him even considering what Ms. Ponce said but I will tell you I was spoken to in such a rude and demeaning manner that I hung up on him after repeatedly telling him that I was not going to be spoken to in such a manner. I then answered when he called back and asked him if he was willing to have a civil conversation.

He informed me that he was not paid to be polite (again his exact words) and proceeded to insult my manhood and speak to me in derogatory terms. Funny thing is at the time of his call I was just telling someone how classy I thought Stevens had handle the whole thing. My mistake.

I copntacted Shirley Ponce and was told that I had "misunderstood" her statements. Since then I have spoken to others and it seems that there is a unanimous "misunderstanding" of her statements

My son visited Tampa Truck Driving School last week. They connected him up with Stevens Transport for employment upon completing his CDL Training in Tampa.

On the face, it appeared to be a very good arrangement. The Stevens Transport website leads one to believe that this is a very professionally run, family owned business of the highest caliber. However after doing a little independent research we have the impression that this is a place one should avoid at all cost. He has not made any payment, or committed to any fees as of this writing.

If there were only a few complaints, one could dismiss that as issues attributed to personalities, misunderstanding etc., but the number, and nature of complaint at this site, and other give legitimacy to statement that this company is not a good place to work.

Notwithstanding your unfortunate conjugal issues, would it be you feeling that this is not a good place to land as the first trucking job.

verbal statements are worth as much as the paper they're written on.

***...this is real life...military contracts are ***, too...that's why they're 6 inches thick. Don't stick up for Stevens.

They ARE liars!! They ARE cheats!! If they would like to dispute this with me, I would be thrilled to have the opportunity!

They never will, though. They are too busy hiding (for VERY good reason) behind they're locked glass doors upstairs!
