My husband also worked for Stevens. He quit after being 4 days of "on the road training " . He was trained on a 10 speed truck during the school, then had him with a trainer with a 8 speed truck !! My husband called his counselor and asked to be moved to a truck that he was familiar with and the said no !! So he is driving from Iowa to New york ! And he had several panic attacks ! He would stall on the free way and the trainer would make it even more hard on him. The trainer would sleep instead of trying to help him !!

SO after all that my husband was in Bronx NY and he quit ! So we had to pay for the plane ticket back to Texas .

My husband graduated the top in the class , and knew what he was doing . Stevens just didn't give a *** about following through with proper training!

If they are not going to use the same trucks through out training then they should train on both trucks . Instead of waiting till your on the public roads and learning how to drive these big trucks all over again . It was even more difficult for him because he had to do this on icy roads.

So after a few weeks of him being home , he is contacted by Stevens saying he is being sued for $4,000 for breach of contract. Then we hear from their lawyer saying it is now $10,000!!! We don't know what to do now !! So if anyone has gone through this please let me know !!!

DONT EVER SIGN UP WITH THIS *** COMPANY IT WILL JUST *** OVER

THANK YOU TONYA HAZARD

I know how you are talking about one driver had that smelly man, only when he ripped the massive *** in the cab,he *** his pants instead.how sick was that.

Beware of one trainer who thinks it is funny to rip giant *** in the cab ,the smell will make you puke,he has yellow teeth and one front tooth missing. beware of him .

sorry if you cant switch from 10 to 8 then you need to be slapped since stevens has phantom gears to make it driveable if he tried driving it as a 10.

Tonya your husband had the option to choose another trainer. They tell you that early on in class.

I speak as a former trainer at Stevens. I've trained many students who came to me, because they had problems with their previous trainer. Every trainer has his own training techniques, some are more patient than others. Some have many more years experience than others, and I'll admit some have no business training.

I took pride in training my students, and it was nice recieving compliments when compared to their previous trainer. Your husbands trainer obviously wasn't qualified to train if he failed to show your husband how to operate that 10 speed transmission. There could be the possibility that trainer has been removed from training after additional complaints. Also don't let that bad trainer reflect the Training Program overall.

I had to leave Stevens due to health issues. I drove, and trained students for 10 years, I enjoyed passing my knowledge, skills, and road experience to others. I really did. The frustrating part was when they completed their training with me they would quit afew weeks later, because they determined it wasn't in their blood to continue that career.

It has been 4 years, since I got off the road due to my health. I miss it some days. I'm glad I drove.

Life is short, and you have to do what you can do while we still have our good health.

Good luck to you, and your husband.

WoW!!! Sorry to hear about the panic attacks and all. But, if a person has trouble adapting to an 8 speed from a 10 speed, the job was just not the right job for you.

Guest

Wow! Break your contract, and walk off the job in another state.

Brilliant! That has got to be the worst bridge-burning I've ever heard of! Everyone worth their salt knows you don't quit before your contract is up. You ALWAYS wait until your contractual obligation is fulfilled before you submitting your resignation.

And when you do decide to quit, you do it in your hometown, not the other side of the country, Einstein! And you think they're going to pay for your trip home!?! Wow, that's some gall!

They invested time & money in your husband. He broke the contract.

Now they are out their investment. Why should they lose money because your husband broke his contract? He/you are legally obligated. He made this bed, now he's gotta lie in it.

What class was he the "top" of? Maybe he could get a job driving the short bus!

top of the class, and he quit because he was scared to drive a 8 speed.

Did you not completely read any agreements you signed when he was hired?
